A simply beautiful and elegant antique Kashan carpet with a one way tree of life pictorial design.  The variety of animals we see on this carpet adds to the charm and character of this turn of the last century piece.  We can see birds and flowers in the border design, with roosters, snakes and peacocks at the base of the tree design. The weavers created a stunning design and the rare ivory border and main field colour is unusual too.  Most antique Kashan''s used typical madder reds as the main colour or deep vivid blues in the centre.  This carpet may well have been commissioned for someone using these dyes and design.
