Purchase this wonderful royal blue background antique Karaja runner from our website and we will securely courier it to your home with our sturdy anti-slip underlay. This is included in the price and helps runners, rugs and carpets stay flat on the floor and stops them from moving around.
Warm rich natural colours and bold medallions on this great condition antique runner, it would enhance any corridor or entrance area. In excellent condition all over with a high wool pile a great durable antique piece. Woven around 1900-1910 these runners from the village of Karaja used great natural dyes and tough sheep wool which is why often these are found with a full pile.
Heriz and Karaja are not far from the Azerbaijan Border so they draw influences from many Caucasian rugs and runners. They are easily recognisable with repeating medallions similar to those in caucasian rugs. The central motif is often the latch-hooked design motif or an eight-pointed star. The village weavings of K...araja such as this runner often use a simpler repeating medallion design with a great array of colour.
