A rare and stunning tree of life design antique Bidjar rug, woven with the Persian date 1300 which translates to 1921 in the Gregorian calendar, currently 99 years old and in near perfection condition! Along with the date is woven the text Farah Bakhch which is in the Rasht province further north from Bijar and close to the Caspian Sea.  The weave construction is Bidjar and extremely tough with a tough fine weave and dense pile, we usually expect from rugs from this area.  Often weavers travelled and used varying designs from different areas they visited, the tree of life design was more often seen in rugs from cities such as Tabriz or Esfahan.The animals and birds in the rug are quite spectacular throughout the beautiful tree of life design, with a wonderful array of colours, this antique rug truly is a work of art for the floor or to be hung on a wall.
