Size: 7ft 3in x 4ft 11in (220 x 150cm).

Antique Abedeh rug with the classic Zili Sultan ‘vase and peacock’ design, the rug has excellent colours on an ivory ground.

Circa 1920.

This is a superb example of type, with excellent colour and soft wool, the red ground border is of unusual design and frames the rug well.

Note all the small birds in the field design surrounding the vases of flowers.

The rug is in excellent condition with slight even wear and good pile.

The rug has been hand washed and is ready for use or display, the rug is suitable for normal domestic use.

This rug has a well recorded history, it was exhibited in 1938 in Johannesburg, South Africa, and was then taken by the owner to Switzerland and in 1999 it was sold at auction in Zurich. The original auction catalogue is included with the rug.
