Cotswold Oriental Rugs has dated this piece to the 1880s.
Antique Caucasian Chelaberd Kazak single medallion rug of small size.
Circa 1880.
These rugs are from the Karabagh region of the South West Caucasus. This example is of unusually small size with a well drawn single medallion, the border design is typical for the region.

The rug has superb colour with soft terracotta reds, yellows, blues, greens, ivory and browns; the weave is typical Kazak weave with long glossy pile.
Great condition, slight even wear with generally good pile, slightly lower in places. There is some corrosion to the browns, a few small old repairs, both ends have one or two rows completed in the corners.
Hand washed and ready for use or display.
The rug is suitable for normal domestic use or would make a great display item.
