Fine Persian Carpet, 3.95m X 3.05m, Late 19th Century

Description

Woven by the talented weavers of the Sarouk district , West Persia, A very happy carpet with wonderful colours and a classic medallion (or 'bookcover') design. The subtle terracotta is complemented well by the mid-blue medallion and borders, and the lovely ivory corners. This is a formal carpet with wonderful proportions and great presence. Woven in fine wool with natural dyes. This carpet is well over 100 years old but has survived in remarkably good condition. The pile is even, and all the original edges and ends are intact. Very hard-wearing quality. I have professionally cleaned it recently and it is ready for immediate use.
