Antique Caucasian Shirvan Baku Long Rug Runner, Star Design, Circa 1880.

Description

Size: 9ft 2in x 3ft 7in (280 x 110cm).

Antique East Caucasian Shirvan long rug from the Baku region.

Circa 1880.

The rug has a design of five cross medallions each containing a large star, within and around the stars are many small tribal devices and design elements. The stars are floating on a midnight indigo blue field. The borders are of traditional designs for the region and the use of ivory wool gives the rug a light feel.

The rug is in excellent condition with slight even wear and good pile.

The rug has been hand washed and ready for use or display.

The rug is suitable for light domestic floor use.
