Antique Caucasian soumak carpet of three medallion design of scarce small size format with superb colour.

Circa 1880.

This soumak is of the classic three medallion format surrounded by eight yellow octagons, the soumak has superb colour and includes a soft green that is found in the earliest examples.

The soumak is in excellent condition with slight wear and a few scattered old repairs. The original braided end finishes are retained at both ends.

The soumak is suitable for light domestic use.

The soumak has been hand washed and is ready for use or display.
