A charming and decorative oil on canvas still life. The painting is typical of still life work of the time, with a fruit bowl full of fruit propped against fabric. The painting is signed to the lower right: Dorothy E Dee and dated 1931. I have been unable to identify the artist, I feel this is a student work as this type of still life was often given to students to teach use of colour and texture, it may be that the artist married and changed her surname. It is a capable work with great decorative appeal. The work has been professionally cleaned and is in good condition, there is a slight dent in the canvas around the signature but it is not distracting. The painting is framed in the original simple gilt frame in good untouched condition, with some minor old repairs. A good decorative painting ready to hang.
