Antique Baluch Tree of Life Prayer Rug, Outstanding Condition, Circa 1900.

Description

Size: 5ft 4in x 2ft 10in (162 x 86cm).

Antique Baluch camel ground prayer rug with tree of life design that is typical of the Baluch of Khorasan.

Circa 1900.

The rug is beautifully drawn with a tree of life and has excellent colour, the camel wool ground is very soft. The rug retains the original kilim end finishes at both ends. The rug has an inscription, possibly a date in the mihrab. The main border is of the Baluch boat design. Note the hands with stars in the hand placements either side of the mihrab.

The rug is in excellent condition with very slight even wear, and good pile.

The rug has been hand washed and ready for use or display.

The rug is suitable for light domestic use.
