Antique Caucasian Khila rug from the Baku region of the Eastern Caucasus

Circa 1890.

This is an outstanding example of this type of rug, with a central medallion surrounded by six smaller medallions. There are two human figures in the field along with two animals an a pair of water ewers. Each corner contains a large Shirvan peacock. The rug has superb colour and is very striking.

The rug is in excellent condition with slight even wear and good pile, there are a few very small old repairs that I have detected, these are only visible upon very close inspection..

The rug is suitable for normal domestic use.

The rug has been hand washed and is ready for use or display.
