Along with the vibrant yellows, the greens and pinks work so well as secondary colours and the dark indigo blue border adds the right amount of contrast to ground the rug. In really excellent condition, hardly any wear at all and in a larger size than most for these village rugs. Ideal to brighten up an entrance hall, study, kitchen or anywhere that needs a fun uplifting antique rug!

We love to help customers and interior designers source the ideal carpet for a room, if this beautiful antique rug is of interest please email us to arrange a time to view it in-situ or at our showroom in Crondall, Surrey.

Mahal carpets and rugs were produced in Sultanabad, Persia which is now Arak in the centre of Iran. Mahal and Sultanabad rugs were made in the same area as the earliest Fereghans and Sarouks, but they are very different in form and structure. Floral motifs and overall designs of vine scrolls and palmettes remain consistent with the influences of western color palettes and are all characteristics of Ziegler carpets.
