Here we have a beautiful fine quality Burr Walnut dressing table in the Arts and Crafts manner by Marsh and Jones and attributed to the design of Charles Bevan c1865. We are secure with this date as the previous company was Kendell and co with it becoming Marsh and Jones in 1864. The firm became Marsh, Jones and Cribb in 1867. Marsh and Jones had a strong association with Charles Bevan at this time and the elements of his design are prevolent in this piece. The mirror has wonderful tracery in the Bevan style with ornate turned supports. There is a bank of drawers with Hobbs and Co locks finished in Burr Walnut with solid Ash linings. The drawers have wonderful aesthetic inlay to the fronts. There are two further drawers below and fantastically turned legs to brass casters. The dressing table is labeled for Marsh and Jones with the Cabinet makers name signed in pencil. A super period dressing table with great provenance in fantastic retail condition ready for your home. The dimensions are approx 42 inches wide 65 high and 22 deep.
