Description

A fine antique Serapi carpet. The large and beautifully drawn expanded navy medallion on rare ivory ground with terracotta spandrels flanked by soft pink samovar borders. A good and early example woven in the wonderful soft pastel colours that make decorators and collectors hearts sing. I have decided to offer it in an as in condition. There are two old but good quality repairs that have faded slightly, there are losses to the ends which have been secured. The piece has been deep cleaned and is floor ready as is, or, for the more condition conscious, I would be delighted to quote for and arrange top flight restoration in Turkey should it be required. Circa 1875.
