William Cave Day was born in Dewsbury, Yorkshire in 1862. He studied painting in Paris under Bernard Constant and Jules Lefebvre and in England at Professor Herkomer''s School in Bushy. He lived and worked for much of his life in Knaresborough, Yorkshire, later moving to the South West where he lived and painted in Cornwall.
This charming little oil painting on board by William Cave Day measures 6''x 8''. It is signed lower right and is framed giving an overall size of 9''x 12''. There is a title ''Frosty Morn'' on the reverse in the artist''s hand.
