Description:
Here is a fine quality and rare Georgian mahogany dressing table with height adjustable mirror, attributable to Gillows of Lancaster, circa 1820, in excellent condition. The dressing table features a rectangular shaped mirror in a mahogany frame. The mirror can be lowered for stowage, or raised up for use when needed, and operates on a sliding rack with a sprung-loaded locking mechanism. The top of the mitred mirror frame incorporates brass knobs for raising and lowering it. When stowed, the mirror retracts into the table such that the top rail of the frame sits flush with the table top. The dressing table features a simple moulded top, above a single cock beaded drawer. The drawer is hand dovetailed, mahogany lined and boasts the original turned knobs. The table stands on the original elegant ring turned legs, which terminate on their original brass castors.
