Antique Afghan Turkmen ensi of unusual all over design with excellent soft colour.
Circa 1900.
Ensi were door hangings used to cover the entrance to a yurt.
This ensi has a repeat all over design, it has superb glossy wool and excellent soft colour. There are old goat hair hanging loops still attached to the top corners.
Note the beautiful row of shrubs in the elem at the base of the ensi, these are often found on Beshir chuval. The flat woven checkerboard end finish is very pleasing.

The ensi is in excellent condition with only slight even wear and good pile.
The ensi has been hand washed and is ready for use or display, the rug is suitable for normal domestic use.
