Large Japanese Meiji Period Bronze Koro.

Description

A wonderfully amusing and very large bronze koro in the form of a turtle with a particularly arrogant pose .

Made of very heavy gauge bronze and cast in an almost surreal posture . The lid of the koro fits exactly and at first view seems not to be there , really high quality casting . A most attractive object and most unusual in format for Meiji metalwork .

Excellent condition . Meiji period . Weight 5.6 kilos !!
