Description

This a very charming antique Heriz carpet dating from around 1890. Heriz carpets are densely woven in wools with natural vegetable dyes which makes them warm and soft as well as wonderfully hard wearing. The design of the carpet is unusual for a Heriz in that it is very flowing and not as geometric as some. It has a pretty central medallion set within a warm indigo field of stylised flowers. The attractive colour palette includes warm reds, a deep ivory, and gold and cinnamon shades set against the indigo. The carpet has a little wear to the ends and a low even pile. This is a great room size measuring 385 cms x 270 cms and would add both character and style to a home.
