Antique Tekke Turkmen main carpet with 4 rows of 12 octagonal guls.
Mid 19th century or earlier.
This carpet is published in 'Oriental Rugs Volume 5 - Turkoman' by Uwe Jourdan.

The carpet is of very fine weave with soft velvet like wool, the carpet retains the long kilim end finishes at both ends. The drawing of the guls is crisp and clear, there are many interesting changes in the design throughout the carpet. Note the headless man in the border top righthand corner.

The carpet is in good condition with slight even wear with good pile. There are a few historic repairs to the kilim ends and also to the field, the sides have also at some time been slightly reduced and selvedges applied.
The carpet is suitable for light domestic use.
The carpet has been hand washed and is ready for use.
