Antique Heriz Carpet Runner

19th century
Description

This is a good quality Heriz runner carpet with an attractive colour palette from Iranian Azerbaijan, which dates from around 1910. The warm brick red field has five polychrome medallions enclosed by stylised vine borders in beautiful ochre and indigo shades.

The carpet has nice neat proportions measuring 315 cms by 100 cms and is in excellent condition in soft lustrous wool with a good pile.

There is a very small area of depletion to the pile best seen in photo 3
