A Heriz carpet woven around 1900-1910 with a beautiful palette using a wonderful medallion design. The palette of natural dyes on this beautiful small size antique Heriz is wonderful with varying reds and terracotta tones, highlights of soft green and the lovely pale blues we see in the corner spandrel designs. The condition is very good all over with a sturdy wool pile and no stains or damage. We have professionally washed this carpet and it is a great small size antique carpet ideal for a study, hall, living or dining room.
Heriz carpets have always been regarded as beautiful, tough objects of decoration, made in the north-west of Persia these handwoven works of art always have variations from one piece to another. Some draw influences from further north into the Caucasus and vivid colours like this particular carpet. A decorative yet practical carpet which has been used for over 100 years and stood the test of time.
