Antique Kashmir Silk Carpet

1900 - 1920
Description

This is a good example of a Kashmir silk carpet dating from around 1920. The carpet has a very pretty design with central medallion set within a flower filled field and framed by deep borders filled with trailing plants and birds. The carpet features a warm coral colour to the medallion and the outer border which contrasts with the warm ivory of the central field and the deep indigo of the border. A very nice azure blue has been used for the flowers in the central field and also the border. This is a very finely woven carpet, it is in excellent condition with complete ends, selvedges and fringes. It measures 154 cms by 91 cms.
