Antique North West Persian Village Rug, Hamadan Region, Circa 1920.

Description

Size: 7ft 9in x 5ft 2in (235 x 158cm).

Antique rug from the Greater Hamadan region of North West Persia, with a large medallion design.

Circa 1920.

The rug originates from one of the many 100's of small villages in the Greater Hamadan region, the weavers are mainly Kurds. This good example has a large central medallion in light indigo blue on a dark indigo field. The corners are in madder red with a floral border framing the rug.

The rug is in excellent condition with even wear and medium pile.

The rug is suitable for normal domestic use.

The rug has been hand washed and is ready for use.
