French Marquetry Lift Top Dressing Table

1900 - 1920
Description

Decorative French walnut and mahogany, marquetry dressing table with lift top mirror, known as a "coiffeuse" or dressing table for doing ones' hair. Circa 1920

Elegant style with its long cabriole legs, finished with brass mounts. Good marquetry throughout.

There are some areas around the dressing table that have a little bleaching. I have left these as a full re polish would be quite costly. So, it has been fully cleaned and wax polished and has come out nicely.

When you lift the centre mirror section, there is a little storage. To the left, you lift up to reveal full depth storage and to the right, you have two functioning drawers...all with working locks and keys.

Dimensions:

30 1/2'' or 77.5cm high

31 1/2'' or 80cm wide

17'' or 43cm deep

45 1/2'' or 115.5cm high when the mirror is up

36'' or 91.5cm wide when the left side is opened

Kneehole area is:

25 1/4'' or 64cm high

12 3/8'' or 31.5cm wide

Delivery to most England, Wales and Scotland addresses at £55 +vat, but please send me your postcode if you are a bit remote or coastal as it could be more...or you are very welcome to collect from me in Uppingham, Rutland

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.
