Antique Khorassan Carpet Room Size

1900 - 1920
Description

This is a beautiful antique Khorassan carpet from North East Persia which dates from around 1900. The finely woven carpet has a classical design with central medallion and is unusual in that it is square in shape. It has a wonderful raspberry field of flowers and vines and a very pretty central flower head medallion featuring indigo, mid blue, coral and yellow shades. At each of the spandrels the carpet has diagonally placed colourful vases of flowers, further echoing the symmetry of this fine carpet, and deep indigo borders with meandering flowers and vines. The carpet is in remarkably good condition overall, with no wear. This is a good room sized carpet measuring 298 cms by 298 cms and would add great warmth and beauty to a reception room.
