Description

This is a wonderfully warm woollen Mahal carpet from West Persia which dates from around 1920. The quality carpet has a beautifully drawn design of stylised plants and vines enclosed by indigo meandering vine borders. The main colour of the carpet is a very nice warm coral red and it also has blues and a pretty warm yellow shade. The carpet has at some time been altered at the corner to fit a certain space. This has since been successfully restored (see photo 6); it has been very well done and is not noticeable. The carpet is in great condition with a good deep soft pile and complete ends and selvedges. The carpet is a very good room size measuring 382 cms by 276 cms. It would certainly add great appeal and warmth to a reception room.
