Antique Afshar Long Rug, Excellent Design and Colour, Circa 1880.

Description

Size: 8ft 10in x 5ft 3in (270 x 161cm).

Antique South Persian Afshar long rug large medallion design.

Circa 1880.

A rug of superb colour and design with very fine soft glossy wool. The medallion is of the traditional Afshar hexagonal shape with the small arrowheads at the ends. The medallion is filled with a lattice of small colourful octagons. The rest of the field and the borders reflect Afshar weaving at its best. Both ends retain the original fine stripped kilims.... although slightly ragged in places.

Excellent condition with even wear, medium pile.

Hand washed and ready for use.
