Antique Qashqai Rug, Tribal Design with Great Colour, Late 19th Century.

Description

Size: 10ft 6in x 5ft 5in (306 x 166cm).

A very good Antique Tribal Qashqai rug, very fine weave with five medallions.

Late 19th century.

The rug has superb drawing with five linked medallions, two in ivory, two in madder red and the central one in light blue, each medallion contains the Qashqai emblem. The medallions are on a midnight indigo blue field which is filled with large boteh and other tribal devices. There are many goats, dogs, birds and flowers throughout the rug, and more can be found in the light indigo blue spandrels. Both ends of the rug retain the original checkerboard design, short kilim and original long tassel finishes.

The rug is in excellent condition with very slight even wear and good pile, the rug is of fine weave with very soft wool, the rug has a nice floppy handle in the hand.

The rug has been hand washed and is ready for use or display.
