Size: 4ft 1in x 3ft 5in (125 x 103cm).

Antique Caucasian Dagestan village prayer rug with floral lattice on an yellow ground.

2nd half 19th century

A superb example of this well known group of prayer rugs, this rug has excellent colour and is drawn with a rustic charm seldom found. The yellow/gold field is framed by the abrashed indigo blue border. The way the border design has been drawn has a very naïve charm to it. Note how the mihrab is floating.... it is not connected to the border at the sides.

The rug has even wear with medium/low pile. The rug has a number of old repairs and re-weaves as one would expect for a rug of this age.

A good collectors rug that would make a superb wall hanging.

Hand washed and ready for use or display.
