Antique Beshir Turkmen Chuval Camel Bag of Large Size, Circa 1900.

Description

Size: 6ft 2in x 4ft 2in max (189 x 127cm max).

Antique Beshir Turkmen chuval (camel bag) with the Mina Khani design.

Circa 1900.

The chuval is of large size and shaped to fit on the side of a camel, chuval were large bags strapped to the side of the camel used to transport goods. The mina Khani design (many flowers) is typical for the Beshir Turkmen, the lower pane (elem) is decorated with the shrub design. The back of the chuval has been removed so that it can be used on the floor as a rug.

The chuval is in excellent condition with very slight wear and good pile.

Hand washed and ready for use or display.
