Antique Tabriz Carpet

1900 - 1920
Description

This is a good antique Tabriz carpet dating from around 1920 with an unusual and rare colour palette. The carpet has a central medallion with a deep blue ground surrounded by the larger cinnamon field filled with flowers and foliage designs in ivory, blue and turquoise. The spandrel to each corner are particularly pretty with lovely arching blossom branches. This is all framed in multi floral borders. The carpet is in excellent order with a good even pile and only very slight wear to the ends. This is a most rare colour combination seldom to be found in a carpet of this age and most pleasing. It is a very practical size measuring 189cms by 137cms.
