This wonderful looking large Ziegler carpet is evenly worn all over, which has created a great looking carpet with a wonderful warm, lived in look.  Still a lot of pile is present and it is a very useable carpet the wear is scattered but there are no holes or large areas of damage.  The typical blue background is covered with floral motifs, with pale blues, browns, yellows and dark greens being used for these large palmette designs.  The border is a mixture of reds, terracottas and browns using traditional persian floral designs.  The minor border uses a flowing vine pattern with yellows and metal threads such as black and brown which have corroded due to the carpets age.  A very decorative antique persian Ziegler carpet woven in Sultanabad around 1880-1890.In 1883, Ziegler and Co, of Manchester, England established a Persian carpet manufacture in Sultanabad Persia, which employed designers from major western department stores such as B.
