GILLOWS of LANCASTER: a truly remarkable and wonderful quality kidney-shaped DRESSING or WRITING TABLE in fine original condition.

This superb (and rare) table epitomises everything that this renown firm of cabinetmakers is famous for, with its kingwood parquetry top which is edged with multiple bands of tulipwood; boxwood and amboyna and with ormolu mounted edges.

The frieze is fitted with a single concave drawer (stamped "GILLOW" to the leading edge) whilst below is the matching under-tier, also beautifully veneered and with an ormolu gallery around. It is supported on ormolu-mounted reeded legs with pretty 'toupee' feet and original castors. An exceptional table, almost of exhibition standard. 38ins wide; 20ins deep; 29ins high.
