Antique Ghom Carpet

1900 - 1920
Description

This is most appealing Ghom carpet from Central Persia which dates from around 1910. It has a very pleasing colour palette with a lot of warm but muted shades, including ivory, coral, sky blue and indigo. The design is very intricate with lots of detail and shows the fineness of the weaving. The carpet has a central stepped pole medallion on coral ground enclosed by an ivory field and sky blue and pale gold borders, all filled with and scrolling vines and palmettes.

There is a little wear to the fringes of the carpet but it is otherwise in really excellent order. It is a good size measuring 218 cms by 140 cms and would add great warmth to a room.
