Description

This is a beautiful and intricate silk prayer rug which dates from the early 20th century.The warm ivory field of scrolling vines is centred by an urn issuing flowers beneath a mihrab with blue, yellow and pink flowers. The spandrels and palmette borders have rich yellow ochre and soft green colours and the carpet has four inscribed cartouches. The carpet is in excellent order throughout and is a great size measuring 188 cms by 120 cms.
