Size: 6ft 5in x 3ft 10in (195 x 117cm).

Antique Turkish Taspinar village rug of classic medallion design with clear reds and blues.

Circa 1900.

Taspinar is a small town on the central Anatolian plateau just south of Aksaray, it has a long standing tradition of making very fine rugs of which this is an excellent early example. The rug was sourced directly from a private family living in the town.

The rug has very soft wool and is beautifully drawn with superb colours through out. The border is of particular note and contrasts well with the brighter colours of the field design.

The rug is in excellent condition with very slight wear and good pile, there is slight corrosion due to age to the olive grey colour.

The rug has been hand washed and is ready for use or display. The rug is suitable for normal domestic use.
