We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Originating in France, the armoire evolved from medieval liturgical chests used to store vestments into large, freestanding cupboards designed for household textiles and garments, often featuring regional woodworking characteristics.

Traditional pieces are constructed from solid hardwoods such as oak or walnut, utilizing pegged mortise and tenon joinery, hand-carved panels, and often brass or iron hardware.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-cut joinery, asymmetrical or naturally aged wood grain, period-correct iron or brass hinges, and often evidence of hand-planed interior surfaces rather than modern machine processing.

An armoire serves as a substantial focal point in a bedroom or hallway, providing concealed storage while contrasting effectively against minimalist or contemporary neutral walls.

Preservation involves maintaining stable indoor humidity and temperature levels, avoiding direct sunlight to prevent timber drying, and occasionally applying appropriate natural waxes rather than modern silicone polishes.
