Description

This is a beautiful and very fine antique Kashan prayer carpet with a Tree of Life design which dates from the late 19th Century. Kashan carpets are known for the fineness of their wool and great skill in their weaving and this can certainly be seen in the wonderfully intricate and curvaceous design of this very pretty carpet. The carpet has a quite typical design with an urn issuing flowers in a gloriously flower filled field beneath a mihrab. The colour palette is particularly easy on the eye, with a warm ivory field, rich indigo borders and a wealth of pinks, corals and blues to the flowers.

This is in very good order with complete ends and has much wear left in it. It would also make a wonderful wall hanging. It measures 210 cms by 131 cms.
