As part of our Japanese works of art collection we are delighted to offer this superb quality and stunning condition pair of Gold lacquer vases from the opulent Meiji period 1868-1912 , these highly decorative vases stand upon three Silver feet , cleverly modelled as Elephants heads , the main bodies of each vase finely decorated in various segmented shapes decorated in Gold lacquer techniques depicting stylised , geometric and mixed diaper patterns , a Shi Shi stands amidst a floral band to each side of the vases , the sixteen section segmented shoulders brightly decorated with a Nashi-ji ground , the slender necks further decorated in fine stylised and geometric patterns and finished with a Greek key border, as if that wasn't enough the vases are each decorated with fine quality Shibayama detailed Gold lacquer panels , the first depicts a Cockatiel on perch amidst trailing Flora with an Ikebana basket Floral display to the reverse , the second vase depicts a Bird drinking from a three legged Koro amidst a garden setting, and a Bird in flight above a Floral hanging display to the rear , each vase is beautifully lacquered and unusually silver lined to the top rim , a further sign of their higher quality , an old collectors label appears beneath the base of one vase , a truly magical condition pair of Gold lacquer mixed media vases that would seriously enhance your Japanese art collection .
