Antique Borchalou Carpet

1920 - 1940
Description

This is a very pretty Borchalou carpet from West Iran dating from around 1930. It has a beautiful two way flowering tree of life design with a coral pink and indigo medallion to the centre. The ivory field is enclosed by blue and rich red spandrels and deep meandering vine borders. The carpet has a soft woollen pile, complete selvedges and a little wear to the fringes. It is a useful size, big enough to furnish average sized rooms, being 215 cms by 147 cms.
