Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A mezzotint is a tonal printmaking technique popular in the eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries that produced rich gradations of light and shadow, widely used to reproduce fine oil paintings and pastoral scenes during the Georgian and Regency periods.

Regency mezzotints were printed on rag paper using oil-based inks and were traditionally housed under glass within water-gilded wooden frames, often featuring ebonised or glass mounts with decorative gold borders.

Authentic mezzotints display characteristic velvet-like tonal shading, subtle plate mark indentations along the paper margin, and soft gradations created by hand-tooled copper plates rather than modern mechanical dot matrices.

Display the print on a painted accent wall or integrate it into a curated gallery wall alongside modern lighting to highlight the burnished detail of the gilded frame.

Position the artwork away from direct sunlight, extreme humidity, and damp exterior walls to prevent foxing, and clean the glass gently using a dry microfibre cloth without applying liquid cleaners directly to the frame.
