Antique Mahal Carpet Room Size

1900 - 1920
Description

This is a good room size antique Mahal carpet from West Persia which dates from around 1920.

The carpet has a warm brick red field with an attractive allover lattice design of scrolled leafy vines and flowers enclosed by indigo borders of meandering vines flanked by ivory guard stripes. It also has soft green, duck egg blue and gold as part of its colour palette.

The carpet is in lovely ready to use condition with complete selvedges and a good even pile. It is a very good room size measuring 378 cms by 278 cms.
