William Edward Millner
William Edward Millner was born in 1849 in Lincolnshire, and was a Victorian painter of landscapes and rustic genre.
He worked his entire life in the town of Gainsborough. He exhibited 8 works at The Royal Academy. Some of his works show the influence of the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood.
his pictures were shown several times at the Royal Academy and since, with his works being held by leading public art galleries and a significant collection housed at Gainsborough Old Hall Museum.
This painting is a typical example of Millner’s work, they show country figures, rustic labourers, L
...incolnshire village life and of course horses, for which he is possibly most admired.
