Fine Quality Pair of Japanese Gold Wire Silver Mounted Cloisonne Enamel Vases

Description

As part of our Japanese works of art collection we are delighted to offer this fine quality pair of opposing Japanese Meiji period (1868 - 1912) Gold wire, Silver mounted Cloisonné Vases, the main bodies of these chunky vases are enamelled in a striking blue ground, typical of the period, each vase has been painstakingly decorated to depict Birds in flight amidst native flora including Prunus blossom and Chrysanthemums, the birds finely detailed with Gold wire, the complex top borders and shoulders finely decorated with Imperial Chrysanthemum and Peonies using fine Silver wire techniques, while the lower border is finished in a more geometric band of stylised lappets & Silver wire swags , the top and foot rims formed from solid Silver and hallmarked to the underside , the interiors and bases heavily counter enamelled in brown , a super quality pair of vases in immaculate cabinet condition throughout , in the style of both the Ando Jubei and Hayashi Kodenji workshops.
