Description

This is a fabulous Tabriz carpet of a grand scale from North West Iran, which dates from around 1920. The carpet has a wonderful deep red ground of stylised flowerheads centred with an imposing indigo medallion which is framed by teracotta borders of meandering vines and flanked by lemon guard stripes. The spandrels are in a soft indigo blue shade with floral detail and there are also large urns issuing flowers in the design to the central field. The carpet is in excellent condition overall with a good even colour and no wear or fading.

The carpet is a grand room size measuring 490 cms by 332 cms.
