Size: 3ft 9in x 3ft 7in (114 x 110cm).

Antique Beshir Turkmen rug of small square size, these rugs are generally considered to be ‘dowry’ weavings.

2nd half 19th century.

This is an excellent example with a very unusual ikat design, this design is found only on a small group of rugs and bags. Dowry weavings of this type are very scarce and collectable.

Note the elem panels at both ends containing a row of flowering shrubs.

The rug is very fine and has a soft floppy handle.

The rug is in excellent condition with slight even wear and good pile.

The rug is suitable for display and would make a superb wall hanging.

The rug has been hand washed and is ready for display.
