Old Eastern Turkish Kilim Runner by the Herki Tribe, Weft Work Decoration, Circa 1920.

Description

Size: 7ft 7in x 2ft 6in (230 x 77cm).

Old Turkish flat weave runner by the Herki tribe.

Circa 1920.

The runner is of pleasing geometric design with good colour. There are alternate bands of flat weave with a zig-zag design and bands of detailed weft work decoration.

The runner retains the original end finishes at the lower end with very long tassels, these have been made using a technique unique to the Herki.

The runner has slight wear in places and has been hand washed. The runner is suitable for normal domestic use.
