Description

This is a beautiful and rare tribal Kashgai rug from south-west Persia, dating from the late 19th century. The carpet has a deep indigo field of stylised plants surrounding a central ivory, stepped medallion. The centre is framed by warm ivory spandrels and surrounded by madder borders. The rug is in really good condition for its age, with some minor losses to the fringes.

This is a good size, measuring 291cm by 167cm.
