Description

Size: 3ft 7in x 2ft 0in (110 x 61cm).

Old Afghan Baluch grain bag; these are known as ‘balisht’.

Circa 1920.

This example has a repeat design to the face with a decorative closing panel at the top in weft work with closing loops. The original tassels are on the sides and the base. The tassels at the sides are very decorative and still have the original beads attached. This is an outstanding example in near perfect condition.

The back is a stripped plain weave design.

The bag is in excellent condition with very slight wear and good pile. These bags make excellent floor cushions if filled with a pillow.

The bag has been hand washed and is ready for use or display.
